THE ART OF PERFUMERY
A Designer's Fragrance Legacy
A REMARKABLE JOURNEY
Design establishes a world through proportion, detail and a consistent point of view. Clive Christian brought that sensibility to fragrance when he acquired the Crown Perfumery in 1999, connecting his own aesthetic with a British perfume heritage dating to 1872.
This editorial celebrates the designer and the legacy of the fragrance house, rather than attributing its perfume formulas to him. The distinction matters: a founder's vision and the work of individual perfumers contribute different forms of authorship. The house's collections provide a setting in which those collaborations can explore heritage and contemporary expression.
Town & Country places clary sage beside sandalwood and grey amber, suggesting the meeting of herbal clarity and warmth. E Cashmere Musk turns toward soft floral and musky textures, enlivened by pepper and ginger. 150 Contemporary provides a contrasting blackberry, geranium and cedarwood direction. Together they offer three routes into the house's identity, without suggesting that one person composed every fragrance bearing its name.
A curated introduction to the perfumer’s artistry through three distinctive creations available at RichandLuxe.
