Our Impressions of L’Élégant
L’Élégant brings frankincense, saffron, cardamom and pepper into an amber composition with many contrasting materials. Iris, honey, cinnamon, nutmeg, cumin, davana and sandalwood fill the heart, with musk, tonka bean, labdanum, cistus, oud and cashmeran providing the base. The meeting of powdery floral references, spice and resin is its most compelling idea to us.
For a cool evening or a dressed-up dinner, we would sample it with attention to that balance. It may interest someone who enjoys amber fragrances with both aromatic spice and woody materials. The honey and iris make useful points of distinction beside the more direct spice group in Fêtes Persanes.
